Yes it seems that Fred Rogers was colorblind, though this is the only mention of it I remember seeing on the show. He mentions this in the TV Archives oral interview. Ironically, one of his jobs while working at NBC was to assist in some of the early RCA color test broadcasts. David Sarnoff had one of the color TV sets at his home, and a tableaux of brightly colored objects would be set up in the NBC studios, to be photographed and sent to the color set. Periodically Fred would get instructions like "Move the green parrot to the left"- and he'd have to ask which one was the green parrot. He laughs at the absurdity (or whimsy as he calls it) of a colorblind person being involved in that.
