"Santa can look and sound like anyone" makes it seem like he's some sort of chameleon or something- that's much scarier to me than his being able to see me when I'm sleeping!
I wonder if airing it in March was a done so that the issues it brought up with Santa could be worked out by individual viewers and their families with plenty of time to spare before Christmas. If anyone's belief in Santa was ruined, that viewer would have a lot of time to evaluate the feelings involved and form new opinions about the idea of Santa, before Christmas rolled around.
The soda fountain was not brought back when the show went back into production. In one post-79 episode, Mr. Rogers is playing a video game where the soda fountain used to be.

Hopefully the program was repeated in December in time for the actual Christmas season!
