Episode 1082 [1970]

Original Air Date: February 24, 1970

Neighborhood Archive Notes: About a week ago, I added a link on the blog and the website to a comprehensive list of all episodes currently available for purchase on Amazon. I had received a handful of requests for such a list to make it quick and easy to find what is available. During the first few days that the list was up, there were apparently quite a few dead links. Those should all be fixed at this point. Hopefully this list will be a helpful tool!

I remember before Prince Tuesday was born, there were several references to "the secret." I like how it built up over several weeks to keep kids in suspense and trying to guess what "the secret" was.

That seems strange to have a live animal in make-believe, as it might present some of the same scripting problems. I also can't think of another time where King Friday actually visits the clock (at least in the modern episodes), or the factory, tree, or platypus mound for that matter. Also, in this case there's no question that Anderson Bray, Andrea Bray, and Randy Cole should have been credited as neighbors.

Paul, I agree that it seems strange to have a live animal for scripting problems. Sorry to be gross, but I also thought about animal body function issues that could be problematic. :-)However, the novelty of having a live animal in make-believe makes the episode even better.

Paul -- I've found that in a lot of the pre-1979 episodes, the "Neighbors" credit was limited to the show's regular cast members. While not always the case, those just appearing on a show or two were not included in the credits for whatever reason.

Drew -- I like the idea of the "secret" as well and how it carries on over multiple weeks. Stay tuned. The "secret" will be revealed in an episode I'll be covering early next week.

Thanks for making the comprehensive listings of what amazon's offering. I'm glad to hear that more are on the way soon. I just checked FCI out a little bit ago and seen it in the newsletter. Has anyone heard what the 2011 schedule for MRN is on PBS?

Like you, I'm doing something Mister Rogers related. I'm writing A Mister Rogers Christmas book. The characters in The Neighborhood of Make Believe, in 3 different Christmas stories. So far, I have Daniel questioning about Santa Claus when Prince Tuesday doesn't believe in him, a version of "Gift of Magi" starring Lady Aberlin and Daniel, but I'm not sure about a third story. If you have any ideas, let me know on this website. Thanks, and Happy early Holidays! Also, could you post episode 1106 please?

King Friday bans Christmas! That might be a really good one. You could do something rather similar to the Grinch that stole christmas.

Steve, it really seems like Lady Elaine should be involved in some way.
