I am curious was this program recorded on a tv set that had rabbit ears? Judging by the screencaps it appears like it did.

Wasn't there a series about Planet Purple?

I love the Planet Purple episodes! I remember Lady Elaine as an astronaut flying on a leaf mat! I think some of them were a break in episode number and just called "The Purple Adventures of Lady Elaine Fairchild," but I could be wrong. It also seems like the Neighborhood of Make Believe was the focus on these episodes. Good stuff!

Mike -- I'm not positive as the copy I have came to me digitally. I would guess, though, that you're right. The original recording was probably from an antenna hook-up and then to VHS. After that to digital. I'm a big believer that a rough copy is better than no copy at all!

Refresh my memory. I know I saw the Planet Purple episodes but don't remember well- I had thought that the purple people were people in costumes, but seeing a short clip of them on the Fred Rogers Documentary that PBS did several years ago, it appears that they are in fact simple sculpted figures, fairly flat and positioned on some sort of base so that they could rotate left and right in unison- is that correct? From what little I saw it was an interesting effect and certainly contributed to their otherworldly conformism.
