Behind the Scenes

This week, thanks to a generous contribution from a Neighborhood Archive reader, I was able to pick up a copy of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood: Children, Television, and Fred Rogers. I'll save a full review of the book for later after I've had the chance to read it, but with an initial glance, there are a few pictures inside that intrigued me very much and I thought I'd share them today.

The first is an overhead shot of the studio all set for the filming of a Neighborhood visit. Most interesting here is definitely the model Neighborhood seen from above.

The other picture that really caught my attention was a shot of Fred Rogers playing the part of Lady Elaine Fairchilde. Take a look in the bottom right corner of the picture and you'll see the monitor showing the viewer's perspective of this scene being filmed.

While there are many other great photos in this book, I'll save some of those for later when I've read the book. Very much looking forward to digging in to this one!

These are great photos. Where can I pick up a copy of the book?

You can get this book on Amazon, ebay, or pretty much anywhere else you choose to buy books. There is a direct link on the Archive site to purchase it on Amazon.

Wow! The living room looks so much smaller in this picture than what it seems when watching on TV! Great pictures!

Shawn -- I agree with you. That and the model Neighborhood seems much bigger (in comparison to everything around it) than I would have thought.

Our local library has this book- I checked it out years ago, but never had time to read the full thing! I forgot about these pictures!
