Episode 0035 [1968]

Original Air Date: April 5, 1968

Upon his arrival, Mister Rogers takes out the four chairs from the kitchen and a blanket to build a tunnel in the front room. After crawling through the tunnel himself, Mister Rogers sends a toy truck through.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Digger Digorum searches for the red monster in the Trolley tunnel and quickly discovers that the "monster" is nothing more than a blinking red flashlight. King Friday is relieved to learn that the "monster" has been captured and there is nothing to fear in the Neighborhood.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers crawls through the tunnel once again before talking about how monsters are just something that people imagine. After Mister Rogers sings What Do You Do With the Mad That You Feel, Chef Brockett stops by to make a tunnel sandwich. After enjoying his modified peanut butter and jelly sandwich with Mister Rogers, Chef Brockett leaves to go bowling with his chef friends.

Mister Rogers concludes for the week by cleaning up the kitchen.

When I first read this episode on wikipedia, I thougth the Trolley was the red monster. But I do wonder, do they say why there was a red flashing light on the trolley tracks?

Nothing was mentioned that I caught. The segment was pretty short and quite anticlimactic.

If I was in Digger's shoes, I would just have a fit and tell King Friday, "I came all that way to find a red flashing light?!?" lol
