Episode 1278 [1973]

Original Air Date: March 14, 1973

Mister Rogers arrives with seven small unfolded boxes. In the kitchen, he folds them back into shape and uses them to build. He talks about how he had difficulty folding one of them and sings I Like to Take My Time as he continues building.

After building something that reminds him of a person playing the piano, Mister Rogers remembers a time he visited Francois Clemmons' studio to hear Frances Cole play the harpsichord.

Mr. McFeely stops by with a rag for polishing a car. Mister Rogers goes outside where he shows his antique car and demonstrates how parts of it work. He goes back inside where shares a film about a day he, Mr. McFeely, and Francois Clemmons took a ride in the antique car.

A phone call from Betty Aberlin informs Mister Rogers of an upcoming variety show at her theater.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Aberlin is dressed as a ballerina and is dancing throughout the Neighborhood as Lady Elaine Fairchilde plays the piano. Robert Troll passes by and spends some time dancing with Lady Aberlin.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers unfolds his boxes and talks about how you can pretend anything -- even without fancy toys.

That's a nice car. Did Mister Rogers say it was the official 'MRN' car, or did he say it belonged to someone else?

His comments make it sound like the car is his. As you can read in the notes on the Archive site, this car is labeled on the side with "Official Car: Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."
